All the Airbnbs I've Ever Stayed in, Ranked

Oh, Airbnb—you gotta love it. It's my go-to for finding cheap yet comfortable places to stay when traveling. Hosts are usually willing to spill all their local secrets and seem to always jump at the chance to help you in any way they can. To me, Airbnbs offer a much more authentic way to experience a city you're visiting. Here's a ranking of all of the Airbnbs that are in my login (some others were booked by my friends—I've unfortunately lost those!)

9. Gran Canaria, Canary Islands

This Airbnb was pretty overpriced and under-furnished—my bed had only one thin sheet without any blankets on top of it. That paired with the rainy weather and freezing cold shower made it a pretty uncomfortable stay! Plus, the kitchen was weirdly separated from the living room on the other end of the apartment.

8. Ibiza, Spain

This apartment was in a pretty convenient location, close to the water, Ibiza's old town, and famous nightclub Pacha. However, it wasn't the the most modern or clean apartment I've ever seen. The worst part about it was the BED BUGS that left my roommate and I covered in red bumps! Luckily we didn't take them home with us, or I seriously would have demanded a refund.

7. New York, New York

This Airbnb was pretty minimal but served its purpose—sleep me and 5 friends for a night out on my 21st birthday. The exposed brick served as a great background for our mini-photoshoot in our fun party outfits! The only thing we wished for was better lighting in the bathroom to get ready in.

6. Madrid, Spain

I only stayed in this apartment for one night, but it was super comfy! The host even left us with a complimentary bottle of wine (given it was probably the worst wine I've ever tasted, but still, the gesture is nice). It had a delicious Indian restaurant right below it and was right off of Madrid's Gran Via—you couldn't ask for a better location! Standing at 5 feet 11inches, my only complaint was the low ceilings in the bedrooms.

5. Budapest, Hungary

My favorite thing about this Airbnb that I stayed in last weekend was the complete cleanliness of every surface in the apartment. It was pretty sparsely decorated, but it served its purpose and was close to tons of landmarks in Budapest. The contrast between the super new and modern interior and the quaintness of the old building it was in was really intriguing.

This was my first and only time having just a private room instead of the whole apartment, but the experience was great! Our hosts were super friendly and not actually at home that much. I'd eat breakfast on the balcony every day, which was a great way to start my morning. My favorite thing about this apartment was that the bed was SO COMFY—seriously, I could've spent my whole weekend in Berlin in that bed and been completely fine with it.

3. Mallorca, Spain

This Airbnb wins the prize for most amount of fun! A group of 8 of us rented this large apartment for a weekend of beachin' and dancin' in Mallorca. It was clean, had a super friendly host, and was right above a delicious Chinese restaurant. This is the perfect place to stay if you're planning on hiting up Mallorca with a group of amigos. It was a short walk away from one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever laid eyes on!

My mom and I stayed in this charming townhouse for a week while we visited London. It was the perfect place to sip a cup of tea and crash after a long day of castle-exploring, and I really felt at home in this apartment as if it wasn't being rented to us. The square that it's located in was super quiet and peaceful, something that's hard to find in the hustle and bustle of London!

This is the one Airbnb that made my jaw drop when I walked in. I stayed in this stunner during my first week in Bratislava while I was finding a full-time apartment. The mixture of the cute and quirky decor, stunning view of the city, and cleanliness of everything led to an extremely comfortable stay—I didn't want to leave! Best of all, my host was one of the most friendly and helpful people I've ever met. He basically went on my apartment hunt for me, and hooked me up with his friend who was looking for a tenant in the building over! I couldn't have asked for a better experience with this Airbnb.
